Want to show your boss that you have acknowledged a recent work request? Perhaps you want to react to a picture and want to express how perfect it is… well the OK emoji has you covered. This is one of many examples in the emoji world of a multi use tool. Here’s an example: your friends are planning a night out; you have looked over the plans and approve of the night out. A simple OK hand sign will let everyone know you are satisfied. You can also use the emoji to show something is perfectly built or very desirable looking; the emoji can even be used to indicate someone is attractive. Let’s take another example; you see a new person working in a cafe you regularly frequent and they are what you would consider: hot. You could text one of your work mates or your friends: Damn new person is the coffee shop is hot👌

Approved as part of Unicode 6.0 in 2010, the emoji was added to Emoji 1.0 in 2015. Toys of Jear face, Squinting Face and Beaming Face with Smiling Eyes were also approved in this version of emoji.
